The PERSON Behind Lil ToTs

My journey into childcare began in 1999, and the inspiration behind it was very personal—my own children.
Like many of you, I was once a working mother searching for quality childcare for my babies. My oldest two children were in daycare, and unfortunately, I had some experiences that were far from what I wanted for them. One experience in particular has stayed with me throughout the years. I discovered that a dog was eating out of my then two-year-old child’s lunch. I was heartbroken and deeply grieved.
As a mother, it was incredibly difficult to go to work and spend my day worrying about whether my children were safe, loved, properly cared for, eating well, and learning. I knew something had to change.
I talked with my husband about how unhappy I was with the childcare my children were receiving. He said something that would ultimately change the course of my life:
“Since you are so unhappy with the care your children are receiving, why don’t you open your own daycare and provide everything you have always wanted in a daycare for your own children?”
And that is exactly what I did.
Since 1999, I have poured my heart into creating the kind of childcare environment I always wanted for my children—a place where children are safe, loved, nurtured, well-fed, learning, growing, and having fun.
I have always believed that there is no price you can place on the care of your children. As parents, we want to know that when we leave our children in someone else’s care, they are being treated with the same love, patience, compassion, and attention that we would give them ourselves.
Over the years, my children have grown up and started families of their own. I have had the incredible blessing of not only being a preschool teacher to my own children, but also to my grandchildren—and to so many of your children. What began as a mother’s desire to provide better care for her own children has grown into a lifelong journey of serving families.
Throughout these years, I have had the privilege of meeting and serving families from many different backgrounds and walks of life. Some of the families I have cared for have become more than families I served—they have become lifelong friends and members of my extended family.
When I look back over these years, I am truly grateful. Every child, every family, every lesson, every laugh, every milestone, and even every challenge has been a part of this incredible journey. LiL ToTs Learning Center is more than a daycare to me. It is a piece of my heart. My journey started with my own children, but it has continued because of the trust so many families have placed in me with their most precious gifts.
After more than two decades of caring, teaching, nurturing, and loving children, my heart is still full.
